Get to know the most frequent pathologies in summer!

With the arrival of summer, it is important to pay attention to the feet. The heat, humidity and the use of inappropriate footwear can cause the appearance of several pathologies. The most frequent at this time of year are:

Mycosis (Athlete's Foot): With the increase in perspiration, the humid environment becomes favourable for the growth of fungi. It is characterised by itching, scaling and cracks between the toes. To prevent it, it is essential to keep the feet dry by applying an absorbent powder, wear airy shoes and avoid walking barefoot in public areas.

Blisters: The friction caused by footwear can cause the appearance of blisters on the feet. The heat increases perspiration, leaving the skin more susceptible. To avoid blisters, choose footwear that fits your foot.

Calluses / Increased keratin layers: Excess pressure on specific points of the foot caused by biomechanical changes and/or bone deformities can result in the development of calluses.

Hyperhidrosis / Excessive sweating: It is common to associate the increase in temperature with excessive sweating on the feet. In order to control this pathology, it is recommended to wear airy shoes, preferably non-synthetic material and to apply an absorbent powder.

Remember that prevention is essential to keep your feet healthy and enjoy the summer without discomfort. Visit your Podiatrist!
