Tips to care for your feet in winter

10 February, 2021 | by Footstudy

It's easy to forget about feet when they spend most of the time hidden by footwear.

Even so, the low temperatures and the frequent use of closed shoes create the perfect environment for the development and proliferation of fungi and bacteria.

Problems such as cracked heels, chilblains, dry skin, athlete's foot, ingrown toenails, among others, can put foot health and general well-being at risk at this time of year.

According to Podologist Cristina Costa, a daily care routine is fundamental to prevent the development of foot problems in Winter:

  1. Dry your Feet well, especially the spaces between your toes;
  2. Hydrate the skin of your feet with preferably neutral creams;
  3. Preferably use cotton socks;
  4. Keep your feet away from direct sources of heat;
  5. Use comfortable and suitable footwear, avoiding tight or overly wide shoes;
  6. On the footwear, apply products capable of avoiding the proliferation of fungi and bacteria;
  7. Keep your footwear in ventilated places;
  8. Visit a Podiatrist regularly.

And, above all, don't forget to examine your feet daily.
