TIPS FOR TAKING CARE OF YOUR FEET IN SUMMER

21 June, 2021 | by Footstudy

With the arrival of summer it is natural that many people start paying more attention to their feet.

The increase in temperature, excessive perspiration and the fact that we walk barefoot more often in public spaces, such as beaches and bathing areas, are the reason for the appearance of some typical summer diseases!

Despite being the time when our feet can "breathe", this is also the time when more problems appear. Dry skin and dermatologic infections, such as warts, onychomycosis, dermatomycosis, among others, are frequent at this time of the year and preventive care is fundamental.

The feet, as the basis of our organism, require fundamental, daily care. Dr. Cristina Costa, Podiatrist at FootStudy - Foot Knowledge Centre, gives us some tips on how to care for your feet in summer:

  • Wash your Feet properly - washing your Feet properly should be a concern all year round, but in the Summer, our Feet are more exposed, which implies greater care.
  • Moisturize your feet well with creams that are appropriate for your skin type;
  • Apply sun block - when applying sun block to the body, don't forget that the skin on your feet also needs protection;
  • Avoid walking barefoot in public spaces, such as beaches and bathing areas. This care is fundamental to prevent and avoid contact with fungi and bacteria.

If you have any doubts or if you notice any changes on your Feet, contact your Podiatrist.

Best wishes for a healthy summer!
